Empowering Women Entrepreneurs through Sustainable Income (EWESI-II) Project is being implemented by Sarathi Nepal in partnership with the FCA Nepal and with support from its funding partner Women's Bank. The project aims to strengthen women's economic empowerment through social transformation activities, entrepreneurship promotion, livelihood enhancement, market linkages, and institutional capacity building. By fostering inclusive economic opportunities and strengthening local systems, the project seeks to improve the resilience and well-being of women and their households in targeted communities.

Position Summary

Sarathi Nepal seeks a qualified, experienced, and motivated MEAL and Livelihood Officer to lead Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL), and livelihood strengthening activities for the EWESI-II Project across multiple Palikas of Baitadi District.

The position is 60% MEAL-focused (planning, monitoring, evaluation, CFM, data management, reporting) and 40% livelihood-focused (cooperative support, enterprise training, market linkage, income tracking).

Key Responsibilities 

MEAL (60%)

  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits across project-implementing Palikas and verify data quality.

  • Support baseline, mid-term, end-line and annual surveys as per need.

  • Maintain functional complaint/feedback mechanisms (CFM) and ensure timely resolution.

  • Manage KoBo and Excel-based data systems.

  • Document learnings and submit monthly progress reports to Program Coordinator and coordinate with FCA Nepal MEAL team.

Livelihood (40%)

  • Strengthen women-led cooperatives and entrepreneur groups.

  • Deliver training on entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business planning.

  • Maintain income tracking system and analyze economic impact.

  • Facilitate market linkages, trade fairs and exposure visits.

Coordination & Compliance

  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator, FCA Nepal MEAL team and local government bodies across Palikas.

  • Adhere to PSEA, child safeguarding, and CFM guidelines.

Position Specifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Rural Development, Agriculture Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Social Science or related field with minimum 2 years of relevant experience OR Intermediate level in above subjects with minimum 6 years of relevant experience.

Area of Experience: MEAL and livelihood/enterprise development roles, preferably in NGO projects.

Technical Skills: KoBo, Excel (pivot tables, data validation), report writing, business plan facilitation.

Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication (Nepali & English-written/spoken), time management, ability to meet deadlines.

Other Requirements: Willingness to spend 60% time in field across different Palikas of Baitadi District; two-wheeler license preferred.

Safeguarding: Demonstrated commitment to PSEA and child protection policies.

Key Performance Indicators (Targets)

  • 100% of required field visits completed across Palikas with quality monitoring reports within 3 days of visit.

  • 95% of complaints resolved within defined CFM timeline.

  • Monthly MEAL + livelihood report submitted by 4th of following month.

  • 10 business plans developed per quarter (cooperatives or right holders).

  • 2 market linkage events (formal/informal) facilitated per quarter.

  • KoBo database updated weekly with 100% accuracy.
