Rural Education and Environment Development Centre (REED Nepal) established in 2000 AD as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with a vision for quality education and a resilient Environment for a just society. REED Nepal has been working with a prime focus on education development and environmental sustainability. It adopts a holistic approach for ensuring quality and inclusive education in rural community schools in Nepal and contributes to environmental development and sustainability in collaboration, coordination, and partnership with local government and concerned stakeholders. The organization works to strengthen schools management and governance system, capacity enhancement of teachers, provide remedial teaching and alternative education support, school infrastructural development, supports in mainstreaming Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), and intervenes in school based DRR. REED Nepal has its funding partnership with Karuna Trust, Karuna Deutschland Ev., and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Nepal Australian Friendship Association (NAFA), DESWOS, and so on. REED Nepal invites applications from the eligible candidates for the below position for based in Sindupalchowak district:

Post: Nutrition and Livelihood Assistant Officer

Duty Station: Melamchi Municipality, Sindhupalchok

Duration: 1 Year (possibility of extension based on performance and funds available)

Report to: Project Coordinator

Salary: As per organizational policy

Project Summary: REED Nepal has been implementing the project with the objectives of Secure Nutrition for a Resilient Start in Melamchi Municipality, links school gardens, household farming, and forest management to strengthen food security and climate resilience across eight wards. The project equips schools with functional kitchen gardens, diversified meal plans, and active eco-clubs that run at least three environmental activities while supporting households to adopt two or more climate-smart practices (kitchen gardening, drip irrigation, tunnel farming, crop diversification, organic composting). It also builds inclusive governance and sustainable management capacity in six Community Forest User Groups, recognizing forests' role for watershed and soil health.

Required Qualification & Experience

Academic: Proficiency Certificate Level (Diploma) or equivalent in Agriculture Science, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Nutrition, or related field with experience in rural agriculture development, nutrition management, and marketing. Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • At least two years of professional experience in nutrition, livelihood, food security, climate-smart agriculture, and resilient livelihood projects.

  • At least two years of experience in agricultural production, agribusiness, and market linkage promotion.

  • Experience working with schools, community groups, cooperatives, and local government structures is desirable.
