1. Background

The KOICA Inclusive Rural Development Project in Bardiya District, Nepal (IRDB),2024- 2029 is being implemented across the eight local governments of Bardiya District, Lumbini Province. The project aims to revitalize the local economy of the Bardiya district.

The project is implemented in collaboration with the Government of Nepal and the Government of the Republic of Korea, and is managed by the Project Management Consultancies (PMCs), comprising Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS), and Global Expert Hub Consultancy (GEH).

2. Position Details

  • Position Title: Junior Project Officer (JPO)

  • Number of Position: 1 (One)

  • Duty Station: Project Management Officer (PMO), Office of Bansagadhi Municipality, Bardiya.

3. Position Summary

We are  seeking  a versatile  and  dynamic  professional  who  can  provide  comprehensive support in both office-based administration and  field-level project implementation. The Junior Project Officer (JPO) will be responsible for supporting administrative and financial management, procurement processes, and reporting, while also actively engaging in technical backstopping, monitoring, and implementation of agriculture  and eco-tourism value chain development activities.

The role includes involvement in dairy, cash crop, agricultural machinery, pig slaughterhouse, compost production, fishery, and eco-tourism initiatives. The position requires close coordination with cooperatives, local governments, and stakeholders to ensure effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organizational, technical, and coordination skills,  with  the ability  to  work  effectively  in  both  office and  field environments,  including frequent travel to rural project sites.

4. Qualification

(1) Required Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Management, Business Administration, Finance, Development Studies, Agriculture Science or related disciplines with a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience; OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with more than 4 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in project administration, finance, procurement, project implementation, coordination, monitoring, reporting, or related functions within development projects.

  • Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, documentation, procurement procedures, and stakeholder coordination.

  • Demonstrated experience of implementation of livelihood improvement projects based on agriculture and eco-tourism value chain development

  • Strong understanding of cooperative laws, regulation and system

  • Excellent organizational, communication, documentation, and reporting skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent command of English and Nepali languages (written and spoken).

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently to project sites.

(2) Preferred Qualification

  • Prior experience working in KOICA-funded projects, particularly Integrated Rural Development Projects, will be highly preferred.

  • Previous work experience in the Terai region or familiarity with the development context, local institutions, and socio-economic environment of Nepal’s Terai region will be considered a strong advantage.

  • Proficiency in the Korean language will be considered an added advantage.

  • Valid two-wheeler driving license.
