Care and Development Organization (CDO Nepal) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged and marginalized communities across Nepal. CDO Nepal works with children, women, internally displaced persons, brick kiln and carpet factory workers, and other vulnerable populations through interventions in health, education, livelihood promotion, child protection, and community empowerment.
CDO Nepal adopts a holistic family-centered approach to development, emphasizing the protection, welfare, and empowerment of women and children while promoting sustainable health care, education, poverty reduction, and community resilience.
About the Project
The Empowerment and Protection of Brick Kiln Children (EPBK) Project is a three-year initiative (August 2024 – July 2027) designed to improve the health, education, protection, and livelihood opportunities of brick kiln workers, carpet factory workers, and vulnerable community members of Godawari ward no. 13 and 14 of Godawari Municipality.
The project addresses critical issues including child labor, child protection, access to health services, educational opportunities, women's empowerment, and income generation. Through partnerships with local governments, schools, health institutions, brick kiln owners, and community stakeholders, the project seeks to create a safer and more supportive environment for children and their families.
The project directly benefits approximately 1,730 individuals, including brick kiln workers, carpet factory workers, women, children, and marginalized community members.
Position Details
Position Title: Project Coordinator
Project: Empowerment and Protection of Brick Kiln Children (EPBK)
Duty Station: Godawari Municipality, ward no. 3, Taukhel, Lalitpur District
Employment Type: Full-Time
Project Duration: Until July 2027 (with possibility of extension subject to performance and funding availability)
Reports To: Program Manager, CDO Nepal
Number of Positions: 1
Position Summary
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination, documentation, and reporting of the EPBK Project. The position requires strong leadership and field management skills to ensure effective implementation of project activities related to health promotion, child protection, education, livelihood enhancement, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement.
The Project Coordinator will work closely with local governments, schools, health institutions, brick kiln owners, workers, community groups, and project beneficiaries to achieve project objectives and ensure quality implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Management
Lead the implementation of all project activities according to approved plans and budgets.
Develop detailed implementation plans, activity schedules, and monitoring frameworks.
Ensure project activities are delivered effectively, efficiently, and within timelines.
Coordinate project resources and supervise project staff, volunteers, and consultants.
Coordination and Partnership
Maintain effective coordination with local government authorities, schools, health facilities, brick kiln owners, carpet factories, and community stakeholders.
Organize and facilitate coordination meetings, consultations, and stakeholder engagements.
Represent CDO Nepal in relevant forums, meetings, and networking events.
Health and Child Protection
Oversee mobile health clinics, health education sessions, nutrition workshops, and preventive health interventions.
Support implementation of child protection, child advocacy, and help desk initiatives.
Ensure safeguarding and protection principles are integrated across all project activities.
Education and Community Development
Coordinate scholarship support for children.
Facilitate child clubs, coaching centers, and daycare center activities.
Promote school enrollment, attendance, and retention among children from brick kiln communities.
Livelihood and Capacity Building
Coordinate livelihood interventions including organic vegetable farming and incense-making training.
Support vocational and capacity-building programs such as tailoring and computer training.
Monitor beneficiaries' progress and sustainability of livelihood initiatives.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Documentation and Reporting
Develop and maintain project monitoring systems and beneficiary databases.
Conduct regular field visits, monitoring, and supportive supervision.
Collect, verify, and analyze project data and success stories.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and donor reports.
Document project achievements, lessons learned, case studies, and best practices.
Financial and Administrative Management
Assist in budget planning, expenditure tracking, and financial monitoring.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Support procurement and logistical arrangements for project activities.
Required Qualifications
Education
Health Assistant (HA) or Staff Nurse qualification with Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Sciences, Community Health, Social Work, Development Studies, or related disciplines.
Experience
Minimum 1 years of relevant experience in project implementation, preferably in health, child protection, education, community development, or livelihood programs.
Experience working with vulnerable communities, women, children, and marginalized populations.
Previous experience coordinating donor-funded projects will be an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles.
Knowledge of community health promotion and public health programming.
Experience in project planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
Good report-writing and documentation skills in both English and Nepali.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Preference
Preference will be given to candidates who possess a valid motorcycle/scooter driving license and have access to a two-wheeler for regular field visits.
