Background: Kamana Health Nepal (KHN) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered in the Kathmandu District Administration Office in 2012. KHN was established by a team of enthusiastic health professionals dedicated to a vision for sustainable development in Health, Education, Nutrition, Agriculture, and Environment, working toward improving the quality of life of the people of Nepal. KHN's mission is to improve the overall health of Nepal with a goal to achieve equitable healthcare for all. The organization has established functional coordination with government bodies (local, provincial, and federal), non-governmental organizations (national and international), bilateral agencies, UN agencies, and the private sector, partnering with all to improve quality of life for the Nepali people.
Required positions: The following five (5) positions are required for the delivery of Institutional Service for Quality Improvement in Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) and Sick Newborn Care Units (SNCUs) in Madhesh Provinces. Interested agencies must demonstrate the capacity to field all required personnel.
Position 1: Technical Specialist – Maternal Health (1 Position)
Key Responsibilities
Conduct rapid needs assessment of 15 hospitals to identify gaps in maternity care
Conduct orientation on Labour Care Guide (LCG) (1 day) and PPH Bundle of Care (1 day)
Conduct on-site coaching and mentoring in prioritized hospitals
Adopt adolescent-responsive respectful maternity care protocols integrated into national EmONC guidelines
Scale up maternal mental health services in at least one hospital
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in OBGYN, Midwifery, Nursing, or a related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in maternal and newborn health programs, preferably in quality improvement in clinical care
- Demonstrated experience with EmONC programs and national health guidelines
Position 2: Technical Specialist – Newborn Health (1 Position)
Key Responsibilities
Conduct 2 batches of mentor's development orientation (3 days each) on SNCU to develop a pool of mentors at the provincial level
Conduct on-site SNCU coaching and mentoring (3 days per site) in all hospitals through mobilization of local and provincial mentors
Establish infant and family-centred developmental care SNCU demonstration sites (2–3 sites) with mother-baby rooms and family-centred care protocols
Conduct Early Childhood Development (ECD) orientation sessions
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in Pediatrics, Pediatric Nursing, or a related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in maternal and newborn health programs, preferably in quality improvement in clinical services
- Hands-on experience with SNCU operations and newborn care protocols
Position 3: Monitoring, Evaluation & Data Expert (1 Position)
Key Responsibilities
Documentation through case studies, photo-documentaries, and dissemination to stakeholders at provincial and national levels (4 technical briefs, 2 case studies)
Conduct quality assessments and client satisfaction surveys
Organize provincial-level dissemination workshops and national advocacy meetings
Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting across program sites
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Public Health, Biostatistics, Demography, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in designing and analyzing surveys
- Proficiency in statistical software including SPSS and/or STATA
- Experience in health program documentation and knowledge management
Position 4: Maternal and Newborn Health Technical Officers – Field-Based (2 Positions)
Key Responsibilities
Planning, coordination, and supportive supervision of districts with frequent field visits and meetings with District Health Offices (DHOs)
Provide technical assistance and coordination support for district-level planning, orientation/training, implementation, supportive supervision, and monitoring
Ensure OTC and ITC are established as per DHO/DPHO plans and support to strengthen them
Provide supportive supervision to DPHO staff
Ensure community mobilization, sensitization, and outreach activities are carried out
Support DHO/DPHO to conduct Palika orientation, advocacy, and FCHV-level training and refresher orientation
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Nursing, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in maternal and newborn health programs, preferably in quality improvement in clinical services
- Experience with district-level health system coordination and supportive supervision
