Position Summary

The Education Development Coordinator (EDC) is responsible for developing and leading education with motto of Quality Education including formal and non-formal education and life skill training programs. To deliver high quality, comprehensive service that are responsive to the needs of users and the wider community, that support teachers, SMC (school management committee) and PTA (parent teacher association) and local stakeholders to gain and maintain practical knowledge, skills and pathway on to future opportunities, build ethical and meaningful education system in line with local government and build capacity and resources for the future of educational sector at local level. Addition to the EDC also takes initiatives for development and maintenance of professional standers including delivery of high-quality education, training packages and programs to students, teachers and stakeholders; effective management of resources.

Description

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Lead in Planning and effective coordination for Education Component including taking over all responsibility for project implementation 

  • Coordinat with federal structure of Nepal government at provincial and municipal level. 

  • Develop implementation plan with close consultation with targeted stakeholders.  

  • Oversee implementation activities in the district, including capacity- building of Teacher/Head teacher/SMC (school management committee) and PTA (parent teacher association).  

  • Design, develop and deliver wide range of training packages for community schoolteachers and key stakeholders in line with Nepal government packages incorporating identified local needs and gaps. 

  • Ability to develop, maintain good coordination, collaborative with local line agencies including rural municipality, education section, other relevant stakeholders for program planning, management, monitoring and delivery. 

  • Ensure program materials, including manuals, are developed and updated to ensure relevant and high-quality program delivery.  

  • To lead and cooperate with EDOs for training content, manual design, development and delivery in the field level.  

  • Visiting the schools for follow up and mentoring the project stakeholders as per in school support.  

  • To ensure financial management is on track in performance activities.  


Lead training and capacity building activities  

  • Support in developing training need assessment, design and delivery of all training for targeted teachers, Head teachers, SMCs and PTAs and relevant stakeholders.  

  • Attend meetings, monitoring works, schedule activity plans & review project performance.  

  • Document all identified issues and cases in the schools which will be directly related to the  teaching learning approaches, leadership and governance.

  • Monitor & document uses of library and educational resources. 

  • Monitor & document the performance of teachers and head teachers with clear action plans and follow ups.  

  • Ensure effective coordination & communication between project staffs. 

 

Develop quality periodical event & progress reports 

  • Work closely with the Program Director and Training Consultants to develop quality periodical event & progress reports.  

  • Hold regular feedback meetings with stakeholders to ensure outputs are contributing to intended outcomes of the project. 

  • Assist in designing and developing required training manuals, handbooks and guidelines. 

  • Work closely with technical experts and researchers as required for programming and developing training manuals in cooperation with training and research department. 

  • Prepare periodic progress reports (both qualitative and quantitative). 

 

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Rigorous follow up and monitoring support in targeted schools and communities. 

  • Effective use of M & E tools in Schools and communities. 

  • Frequent interaction with HTs/SMCs, librarians, children and parents for making functinal libraries in supported schools. 

  • Support in planning and lead in delivery of TTQIE (teacher training quality inclusion education) activities in schools. 

  • Ensure project activities are in compliance with project design, organization policies and procedures. 

  • Ensure the project information are timely collected, managed & update in database.  

  • Support to prepare the baseline/evaluation/end line reports as per AF Nepal’s and Donor’s template and timeliness. 

  • Attend regular M&E meetings, actively participate in discussions, share progress updates, and review performance indicators.


Administration & Financial Management

  • Lead to develop the quarterly and out-put based budget plan, requisition and its management. 

  • Support to finance officer to submit accurate and timely financial records.  


Safeguarding, Risk Management and Inclusion
 

  • Ensure all project activities comply with the organization’s safeguarding and inclusion policies, including Child Safeguarding, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH), and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) standards. 

  • Promote the participation of marginalized groups (e.g disadvantage individuals, persons with disabilities, Dalits) in project activities.  

  • Contribute to assessing, mitigating and reporting on risks, including risks of child abuse and exploitation and sexual abuse and exploitation, in the project area.

  • Support the implementation of effective incident reporting mechanisms both within the office and Schools. 

  • Ensure immediate reporting to AFN of any incident of abuse and exploitation. 

  • Follow directives of AFN for follow up required regarding incidents, including reporting to concerned authorities; 

  • Ensure safety of survivor, confidentiality and survivor centered approach.  

  • Contribute to raise awareness and practice of GEDSI, Child Safeguarding and PSEAH with all education stakeholders. 


Advocacy and Sustainability 

  • Advocate with local governments to integrate project education initiatives into municipal plans and budgets. 

  • Support RM education department and SMCs and PTA in developing and implementing local education action plans. 

  • Develop, communicate, and implement strategies and an exit plan to ensure the project’s sustainability beyond its implementation period. 


Professional Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related fields (Master’s degree in Education preferred). 

  • Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience in education related projects, classroom teaching etc. 

  • Prior experience of working with schools, government institutions, and familiarity with NGO/INGO working /reporting processes required. 

  • Experience in education sector, teachers’ training in Nepal and community mobilization.  

  • Experience in Classroom Teaching, National Curriculum Framework (1-8) of Nepal.  

  • General knowledge in computer MS Office application.
