Position: Project Coordinator- HOMES Nepal

Location: Bardibas Field Office, Madhesh Province

Number of Positions: 1 (One)

Duration: Project position, One year, with possibility of extension

Reports to: Head of Field Operations (HOFO) and technically to the Housing Finance and Markets Manager


Position Overview

The Project Coordinator will lead the day-to-day implementation of HOMES Nepal activities in Madhesh Province, working closely with the local implementing partner Sahara Nepal. The role includes facilitating financial literacy training, strengthening MFI (micro finance insurance) and insurance partnerships, ensuring effective community engagement, and supporting data management and reporting. This position is critical to advancing outputs related to grassroots delivery and awareness-raising and contributes to the success of technical assistance activities.

Description

Key Responsibilities

Project Implementation and Supervision:

  • Coordinate and oversee project activities in Siraha, Saptari, and Dhanusha districts in line with the HOMES Nepal workplan.

  • Support the Senior Project Coordinator and Sahara Nepal team to deliver high-quality financial literacy and digital financial literacy training.

  • Monitor community-level implementation of awareness campaigns and training sessions, providing quality assurance and coaching to facilitators.

  • Support the collection and analysis of feedback from participants to improve training delivery and outreach.


Monitoring, Reporting, and Data Management
:

  • Assist in the coordination and quality control of baseline, midline, endline surveys and external evaluations.

  • Support the implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) framework through systematic tracking of outputs and outcomes.

  • Gather data and prepare regular progress reports, documenting activities, challenges, and learnings.


Partnership Coordination
:

  • Collaborate with Sahara Nepal and other local partners to ensure project activities align with community needs and partner capacities.

  • Liaise with MFIs, local government officials, and other stakeholders to promote housing microfinance, green energy loans, and microinsurance.

  • Monitor partners’ use of project budgets and provide recommendations to finance and project teams.


Stakeholder Engagement and Learning
:

  • Contribute to knowledge products such as case studies and community feedback reports.

  • Coordinate with other Habitat Nepal projects to ensure alignment and avoid duplication.

  • Promote inclusion and safeguarding practices across all field-level project activities.

Qualifications and Experience
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Development Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in financial literacy, inclusive finance, or community development.

  • Strong background in adult education, curriculum testing, and participatory training approaches.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-stakeholder partnerships and managing project budgets.

  • Experience working with savings and credit groups, microfinance, or digital financial platforms is a plus.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Nepali and English; local languages an asset.

  • Familiarity with Madhesh Province contexts is highly desirable.
