Sustainable WASH for All (SusWA) Vacancy for Service Provider – Dignified Menstruation Management (DMM)

 


Background

The SUSWA Project has been working in Karnali Province to promote Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), WASH, health, and human dignity in collaboration with Local Governments and communities. Despite increasing awareness and policy commitments, menstruation-related stigma, discrimination, and harmful practices such as chhaupadi still continue to affect the dignity, health, safety, and participation of women and girls in many communities.
To address these challenges, Local Governments in SUSWA working areas have approved the Dignified Menstruation Management (DMM) Procedure and formed DMM Committees at LG and ward levels. In order to strengthen implementation and operationalization of the DMM Procedure, SUSWA Project invites applications from qualified and experienced Nepali citizens for the following assignment.

Position: Service Provider – Dignified Menstruation Management (DMM)
Duration: One (1) Month

Objective
To strengthen and capacitate LG-level DMM Committees for effective operationalization and institutionalization of dignified menstruation management initiatives in targeted Local Governments.

Scope of Work
The Service Provider will:

  • Discuss and assess the existing menstruation management situation with DMM Committees in the respective LGs. 

  • Facilitate orientation and capacity strengthening sessions on the DMM Procedure for DMM Committee members. 

  • Capacitate stakeholders on legal and policy provisions related to women’s rights, dignified menstruation management, and chhaupadi. 

  • Orient DMM Committees on their roles, responsibilities, and institutional mandates. 

  • Identify and facilitate potential action points together with DMM Committee, GEDSI focal person and WASH Unit to advance dignified menstruation management aiming to integrate into the LG’s next year’s Annual Work Plan (AWP). 

  • Facilitate clarification and roll-out of roles and responsibilities of local stakeholders for effective implementation of DMM-related initiatives. 

  • Prepare and submit a concise assignment completion report highlighting key activities, achievements, challenges, recommendations, and action plans developed.

Jumla (Hima RM, Sinja RM, Kanaka Sundari RM), Humla (Sarkegad RM, Kharpunath RM, Simkot RM) and Kalikot (Palata RM) 

Required Qualification and Experience

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or related field. Master’s Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or equivalent field will be an added advantage

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in Dignified Menstruation Management (DMM) or related social development sectors in at least officer-level capacity. 

  • At least five (5) years of working experience with LGs on governance-related issues. 

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation, training, coordination, and institutional capacity strengthening. 

  • Clear understanding of legal and policy provisions related to women’s rights, dignified menstruation management, gender equality, social inclusion, and harmful practices such as chhaupadi. 

  • Working experience in WASH-related programs and Finnish-funded projects will be considered an added advantage. 

  • Prior working experience and understanding of Karnali Province context and locality will be highly preferred.
