Position: Field Program Officer
Project Location: Solukhumbu District
Program: Community-Based Red Panda Conservation Program
Organization Overview:
Himalayan Health and Environmental Services Solukhumbu (HHESS) is a well-established non-governmental organization founded in 1994. HHESS is a valued partner organization of Red Panda Network for the implementation of the Community-Based Red Panda Conservation Program. The organization works closely with local communities to promote biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental awareness in the Solukhumbu region.
Position Summary:
The Field Program Officer will lead and support the implementation of community-based conservation activities, focusing on red panda habitat protection and community engagement. The position requires strong field presence and collaboration with local stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and monitor community-based red panda conservation activities
Conduct field surveys, data collection, and habitat monitoring
Facilitate community awareness programs and conservation education
Strengthen and support local conservation groups and networks
Coordinate with local government authorities, stakeholders, and partner organizations
Assist in livelihood and capacity-building initiatives for local communities
Prepare regular progress reports and documentation
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Zoology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field
Minimum 1–2 years of relevant field experience (motivated fresh graduates may also apply)
Knowledge of biodiversity conservation and community-based approaches
Ability to work in remote and rugged field conditions
Strong communication and coordination skills
Familiarity with the Solukhumbu district and local context is preferred
Additional Skills:
Basic computer skills (MS Office, reporting, data management, GIS)
Experience in field research and monitoring techniques
Fluency in Nepali; local language skills are an asset
Duty Station:
Solukhumbu District (with frequent field visits)
