Position: Driver

The Gurkha Welfare Trust Nepal is the field arm of The Gurkha Welfare Trust UK, a charitable Trust established and registered in the UK in 1969, and working particularly for the ex-Gurkha Veterans and their communities across Nepal.

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified, committed, and eligible individuals for the position of Driver (Dvr) at its various Area Welfare Centre (AWC)s across Nepal.

1. Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  •  Minimum qualification of class 10 (SLC/SEE) passed with at least 5 years of driving experience.
  •  Must be in possession of the following and current Nepali driving licenses:

o Cat A: Motorcycle.
o Cat B: Car (maximum 8 passenger seats).

  •  In possession of category ‘F’ driving license is desirable.
  •  Must be mentally and physically fit with very good eyesight and hearing.
  • Must have very good knowledge and experience of traffic rules/regulation.
  •  Must have the ability to deal with unforeseen situations whilst driving including roadblocks and strikes.
  •  Must have very good understand of Road Traffic Accident, vehicle breakdown and recovery procedure.
  •  Must have good understanding of how vehicle engine works and be able to fix minor problem.
  •  Must be able to read, write and communicate in simple English.
  •  Must be able to carry out and advice on basic documentation.
  •  Flexible, obedient, adaptable and effective in delivery of service.
  •  Flexible to be cross posted within the GWT(N) locations.

2. Key Responsibilities:

The AWC Driver reports to the Senior Area Welfare Officer (SAWO) or Area Welfare Officer (AWO) and is responsible for providing safe and reliable driving services, ensuring the maintenance,
inspection, documentation, and roadworthiness of all AWC vehicles and motorbikes, in coordination with the Mechanical Transport Coordinator/Logistics Manager at HQ GWT(N).

3. Remuneration and Contract:

The position falls in EG2L1 in our pay structure, with a basic monthly salary of NPR 57,637. All other benefits and facilities will be provided in accordance with GWT(N) Standing Instructions. The initial contract duration is three years, with the possibility of extension based on organisational needs and individual performance.
