1. Background
InElam, a project implemented by Helvetas Nepal, has promoted sustainable livelihoods through small enterprise development in Karnali and Madhesh Province. The current phase focuses on green jobs and circular economy principles to support small, environment-friendly enterprises that generate income for women, youth, and
marginalized communities. Central to this mission is our ability to effectively monitor our projects, learn from our experiences, and systematically manage our knowledge to enhance program quality and impact.
To strengthen our organizational capacity in this area and to cultivate new talent, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Knowledge Management and Monitoring
Trainee. This role offers an opportunity to gain professional experience in the core processes of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) and knowledge management (KM) within a development organization.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of Knowledge Management and Monitoring Officer, the trainee will be responsible for the following:
a. Assist in collecting, cleaning, and entering program data from field activities.
b. Helping to track project progress against targets using tools such as Excel or other software.
c. Prepare data for reports, presentations, and reviews by the Project Coordinator
(PC), Knowledge Management Officer (KMO), Team Leader (TL), and Country Office (CO).
d. Create charts, graphs, and dashboards to visualize data.
e. Conduct regular field monitoring visits and data collection activities.
f. Assist in documenting and archiving key project documents, including reports and success stories.
g. Support the maintenance and upkeep of internal knowledge platforms (e.g., SharePoint).
h. Assist in drafting knowledge products such as newsletters, blogs, and presentations.
i. Help organize and facilitate team learning meetings and workshops.
j. Maintain a clear and simple digital filing system for project documents Assist in drafting knowledge products such as newsletters, blogs, and presentations.
3. Qualification and Competencies
i. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Information Management,
Communications, Statistics, or related discipline. Fresh graduates with no prior job experience are especially encouraged to apply. Willingness for extensive field travel in project areas.
ii. Strong interest in knowledge management, organizational learning, monitoring & evaluation, and international development/humanitarian work.
iii. Excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
iv. Good numerical and analytical skills, comfort with working with data.
v. Basic Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint) is essential. Familiarity with data collection tool like KOBO or
design tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus.
vi. Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
vii. Ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently on assigned tasks.
viii. Proactive, eager to learn, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
