Gurkha Welfare Trust Nepal Vacancy for Medical Centre Nurse, Residential Home Nurse
Vacancy Announcement:
The Gurkha Welfare Trust Nepal is the field arm of The Gurkha Welfare Trust UK, a registered charitable Trust working, particularly for the ex-Gurkha Veterans and their communities across Nepal. It is a charitable institution that was established and registered in the UK in 1969. We are currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and committed individuals for the following positions:
- Medical Centre Nurse based at Area Welfare Centre (AWC) Dharan in Shivadhara, Dharan.
- Residential Home Nurse based at Ram Bahadur Limbu VC Residential Home Dharan, co-located in AWC Dharan.
1. MEDICAL CENTRE NURSE:
Key Responsibilities:
The Medical Centre Nurse is responsible for the delivery of competent and professional primary health care service, in collaboration with other AWC clinical staff, supporting the Clinical Practice Manager. She will work with the Clients to ensure their needs and perceptions are met and that GWT is delivering the expected and agreed level of service.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in nursing or BSc Nursing with at least 2 years’ experience in Hospital or community setting post qualification.
- Alternatively, for internal promotion, PCL in nursing with at least 6 years working experience since qualification, of which at least 2 years in GWT.
- Current unrestricted registration with the Nepal Nursing Council.
- Comprehensive knowledge and skills in general nursing care and basic pharmacology.
- Prior experience working with I/NGOs and/or geriatric care or palliative care is highly desirable.
2. RESIDENTIAL HOME NURSE:
Key Responsibilities:
The Residential Home Nurse works as part of a team to provide and maintain professional standards in accordance with the principles of care as set out by the guidelines of the GWT and the Nepal Nursing Council. The postholder takes responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of the care tasks appertaining to the holistic and specifically the nursing needs of the residents in the Residential Home.

REMUNERATIONS:
- Both the Medical Centre Nurse and Residential Home Nurse positions fall in EG3L1 in our pay structure, with a basic monthly salary of NPR 72,237. Prevailing salary, or whichever is higher, is applicable for internal candidates transferring level.
- Additional benefits and entitlements will be provided in line with the GWT Nepal’s Standing Instructions (SI). The initial appointment will be for a three-year contract, with the potential for extension subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.
